Week 2: Eyes painted

The first week I took up this challenge I did a lippies post, and for week 2 I chose shadows. As shown in my makeup storage and collection post (here), I have a lot of eyeshadow palettes, so I will be doing more posts in the following weeks of eyeshadows. Here are the eyeshadow palettes I've used in the past week.
For reasons I cannot really explain, this picture makes me very happy :) I love eyeshadows
Monday: Smashbox Eye Shadow Trio (Vanilla, Champagne, Brazilian Bronze.)
  • This was part of a Sephora VIB 500-points perk a while back. I love carrying this in my makeup bag until the darkest brown (Brazilian Bronze) popped out of the pan... So sad~~ Anyways, this is a lovely trio with great pigmentation, easy to apply and the colours were perfectly put together, definitely a fave for this eyeshadow addict. The fact that it was free, is pure awesome :)
Tuesday: Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Designer Chocolates
  • This is my favourite drugstore palette/quad ever! I would choose this over some of my high-end palettes. The cranberry/purple/red shade is one of my favourite colour. I bring this palette to work on days I'm too lazy to put makeup at home and eventually work these colours onto my lids over the day. Quick and simple, portable and beautiful! This palette is proof that you don't have to spend a fortune for great colour payoff and lovely quality. Picked this up at the L'Oreal warehouse sale a while back, best $3 spent :)
at night: Lancome Color Design eye palette (Filigree, Tropique Glow, Island Kiss, Simmering and Lézard)
  • I changed my look for our Tuesday meet, kept it simple and neutral~~ Started the week off lazy with pretty fool proof colours :) This shadow palette reminds me of the Naked 1 palette, but with some pinks. Lovely palette I got from a Lancome gift set that was on sale at DFCC. Lovely steal :)

Wednesday: Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow (Pink lollipop, Sugarplum duo, Crystal berry and Come Heather trio)
  • This eyeshadow palette started my collection. This palette is perfect for more playful and awake look. I love the purples in this palette (especially now that I'm back in my purple phase.)

Thursday: Smashbox - Heartbreaker Eyeshadow palette in Hot Date
  • Of all the palettes I used this week, this has to be my least favourite palette. The shadows are too soft and therefore hard to apply evenly, another fault was the amount of fallouts, it was particularly disappointing considering how much I enjoyed my free Smashbox trio~ Another reason this was kind of a derp buy for me is because the teal colour was not very flattering on me if it decides to show up at all~ I couldn't wait to go home to take these shadows off~

Friday: Urban Decay Naked 1 palette - (Virgin, Naked, Buck, Darkhorse and Half Baked)
  • I LOVE THIS PALETTE. I lusted it from the first day I set eyes on it, and it is still one of my most reached for palettes. My only issue with this is that on a weekend trip to my in laws, this is just too big a palette to carry around (I'm also paranoid that I might break one of the shadows if I move it around too much.) In any case, I had a lot of time Friday morning so I played with a few of my favourite shadows from this palette and created another daytime smokey look~ Darkhorse is such a gorgeous dark brown~~ *drools* I will stop here because I'm sure most people have heard enough about this specific palette. :)
Sorry that this post was a little late on being posted, the swatching actually took a long time to do and then the cropping and uploading... I have a new level of appreciation for bloggers who consistently do so many swatches on their blogs! Very time consuming!

Anyways, I was thinking that I will do blushes for week 3, what do you think?? Yay or nay??? It better be yay! JK :)

Spring Warehouse Sale: H2O, Smashbox, Marcelle, etc...

Lisa's Cosmetic Warehouse Sale April 28, 2012 (Day 1 of the many warehouse sales I will be attending in the next 3 weeks)
After an hour wait in line, I got into Lisa's warehouse sale... Like last time, it was packed (not as bad as Shiseido warehouse sale) but it got warm fast because of the amount of people in there. This time around, there were H2O products on sale for half price, so unlike last time, I spent quite a bit on skincare instead of makeup.

So what's the damage?
tada!!!  no, not all mine...
Here's my haul :)
Some close ups~
Annabelle blushes, lip tint (that does not come off) and a pink eyeliner
Smashbox eyeshadow palettes and a stick blush
H2O skin care and eye makeup removers
Marcelle loose eyeshadow and a moisturizer with spf
Elizabeth Arden brush and some face capsules whitening thingy...
Finally some Sally Hansen randomness :)
I also got some chocolates too, as well as some body wash and Lysol wipes... It was very random... but I had a lot of fun :) Sorry for the very 'rush' feeling, I'm busy watching Em play Mass Effect 3 and I'm having trouble focusing on blogging... if anything is of interest to you and you want more info, let me know :) Thanks for reading!

Smashbox Haul + FOTD

The past Sunday we made it to Lisa's Cosmetic 2011 Christmas Warehouse Sale at around 2pm. The first surprise was the long lineup~ Second was the fact that all these women tried to bring their kids and crying babies inside the warehouse even though the flyer states that "No strollers or children under 12" were allowed... anyways, here's some pictures~ Enjoy!
the 1.5 hour lineup at Lisa's Cosmetic Warehouse sale
The haul: I got a few hair products by Schwarzkopf (all hair masks + hair gum), a brush (2.99), and a hair conditioner by Joico ($7.99). The rest are makeup from Smashbox and a blush by Canadian brand Marcelle :)

Haul from Shopper's

I knew that going into Shopper's Drugmart to drop off a parcel would be dangerous... Here's are some goodies I picked up after an hour in there... It started with the Rimmel Vinyl Lip gloss that was on sale for $3.99... then... yah...

Shopper's currently have a promo for Smashbox. Buy 1 item and you get the 2nd same item free (it could be different colours.) So I picked up two cream eyeliner, one in Lava and the other in Image... I am dying to try out Image!! It is a beautiful olive colour with slightly metallic look. As for Lava,  I'm wearing it by itself today as well as wear it with a reddish orange eyeshadow last night. Lava is a good colour for everyday/work, it is subtle, yet it's presence is obvious. Love the creamy texture and it seems to stay put after it dries (which takes about 60 seconds according to the instructions...) Regardless it's been on my lids for 3+ hours and has not yet budged from my oily lids. Bravo cream liner!!

and finally... I fell in LUST for this palette... actually... it was just the blue on the left, but since it only comes in the duo I had to get the palette...

Lise Watier in Bleu Océan. I'm am really itching to try out the colour! okies... that's it for today, thanks for reading :)

V.I.B. Sale 15% Off + Spring cleaning~

My friend and I went to check out the V.I.B. sale yesterday to check out the deals... She had perfect control and didn't make a rash purchase but.. yeah.. I splurged a bit... again... Though not without reason! I really need to find the perfect mascara so I got the Deluxe Mascara sampler set. Looking forward to finding my lashes and hopefully there is one that will work to not smudge badly and give me panda eyes.

Another thing I got from Sephora was the "shu uemura Eyelash Curler," my Clinique one is too old and had to retire. I am quite excited to use this because I heard so much good stuff about it, let's hope it lives up to expectation!

Lastly, I spent 500 beauty points for the Smashbox's Perfectly Polished Lid... :)

-------

I also decided to go through my makeup stash to see which products I have that haven't been touched in a long time and tossed them out... which included a few mascara as well as some eye cream + skin care... I know I really should be doing it regularly (clean up every 4-6 months) but we'll see...

Update: Swatches for the Smashbox Eye Shadow Trio: Vanilla, Champagne, Brazilian Bronze

Thoughts: I originally left this at work for emergency use (therefore it was untouched)... but I didn't have time in the morning to put on makeup so I decided to try this out. It instantly brightened my eyes, and made me look more awake. I really like the way Champagne and Brazilian bronze showed up on my lids (even though I didn't prime it)... However, I am not as impressed with Vanilla because it didn't really show up... Overall, I think that this great for neutral looks and daily wear, I am glad to have tried it out! 07.08.11
