Toes - Pretty in pink/coral

I know that bright toes have been in for a while and that I'm late to jump into the wagon, but hey! better late than never~ Recently, inspired to do bright toes by Moose who was inspired by D from OneCraftyFox, I followed suite... It was quite the leap for me since I tend to go neutral or dark but I'm glad I did it. Every time I looked at them, I smile. It is such a cheerful colour and really brightens my day.
Sporting Deborah Lippmann Daytripper Nail Lacquer on my toes :)
When I first saw this in my Holt Renfrew beauty bag, I wasn't sure if I was going to ever wear it. Now I am glad to have this in my collection. What colours are you wearing on your toes?! :)

"Fall into Fall" - Swap Reveal

Earlier in September I joined the Fall into Fall Swap and was partnered up with Jules from My Mom's a Whack Job. :D Since our parcels had to cross the border, I've just received mine and missed the reveal date, but nonetheless it's here and I'm excited to share!
Note from Jules
All wrapped up!
tada!!! lots of nail polish and gorgeous shiny things (cute tweezer with a heart, compact mirror, ring and 3 nail polishes)
My fave was the ring
This was an attempted close-up
Thank you so much for the the lovely nail polish colours, especially the sparkle purple and neon aqua. Also, I LOVE the ring, it fits perfect on my right hand (since I was holding camera with my right hand so the left one had to model it instead.) It's just my thing!

This was my first swap and I had a lot of fun with it, although next time, I think I need to shop faster or just need more time~ I'm a slow thinker XD I can't wait for the Xmas/winter one!

MU Challenge: Day 8

Day 8: Eight favourite nail colors (and their brands)
  • Essie - Chinchilli - matte grey, kind of like my chinchilla XD
  • Essie - Pink-a-boo - beautiful pink with smaller shimmer/glitter
  • OPI - Turquoise Shatter
  • Lancome - Cocobolo

  • China Glaze - Crushed Candy - this is another teal/turquoise crackle, but matte
  • RGB - Oxblood - this is a dark red that almost look black normally, but is a bloody red under high flash or sun
  • Sally Hansen - Mint Sortbet
  • Nars - Midnight express (Sorry, no picture for this colour!) it is a dark blue that you can only see the colour if the light is right, must wear a base coat underneath because it stains!

Loose Button Luxe Box: April 2012

Better late than never~ haha... I just received my Luxe box yesterday... But I shouldn't complain because I liked my luxe box this month despite the duplicate item. :)
Yeah, yeah! Essie nail polish in Pink-A-Boo and Seche's base coat
I got this in my January Luxe box already :|
I think this is a nice sample set to have, although it isn't a 'luxurious' brand but I feel that it is good to try out new things
So, why is this month's box so worth it? I guess I really like the colour Pink-a-Boo so that was a big plus for them. I got so excited that I tried it out right away... It also nice that I got to try out multiple items in one go such as the Seche base coat in this month's box, the OPI top coat from the March Luxe box as well as the TiVoli Magnetic nail polish that I picked up at the warehouse sale this past weekend.
As you can see, I completely failed at applying the magnetic nail polish the first time around... the second time I did it, the magnetic touched and ruined the nail polish and by the third time I decided to settle for my 'best' attempt. Maybe on a day I feel more patient I will do a better job, but I found the Tivoli nail polish too difficult to apply and the pattern does not show up =(

-------

Update: So I just received an email from Loose Button reminding me about a Cargo product that was missed in this month's box... Looking forward to another surprise later on this month :)

-------

Received my Cargo product during the weekend :) It was a cute Cargo pouch and a glitter Top Coat Eyeliner. I have to say, I'm quite impressed with this month :)

Estee Lauder and MAC warehouse sale December 2011

I was so excited that the charity bags were back this time around so I got a Sunday ticket to the EL and MAC warehouse sale, but after I got my baggies I realized they were the same charity bags from June... Here are my bags:

Charity Bag #1   (x 2)
MAC e/s in Sea & Sky Duo
MAC Prussian Pro Pan e/s
MAC Pro Longlash Mascara in Pitckblack
no flash
with flash
Charity Bag #2
MAC Plush Lash in Brownette
MAC  Kissable Lipcolour in Temper Tantra
MAC Cremesheen Glass in Partial to Pink
Charity Bag #3
MAC Mineralize SPF15 Foundation/Loose in Medium Dark
Sponge
MAC  Plush Lash in Brownette
MAC Kissable Lipcolour in Temper Tantra
Anyways... I felt like doing things backward this time so here is my MAC haul...

Lip products were $15 for two:
Glimmerglass in Blackware, MAC Surf Baby Naturally Eccentric, Dazzle Lipstick in Liquid Lurex and Glaze Lipstick in Out-Minxed

E/S was a whopping $12 each:
Pigment in Gold, single shadows in Silverthorn, Hypnotizing and Paintpot in Let me Pop

Quad palette was $25 each:
MAC quad in Notoriety (containing e/s Skintone 1 and 2, Rich & Earthy and Notoriety)

The deal is about the same as me crossing the border to go to a nearby CCO minus the tedious border crossing and long drive... I will most likely never buy a ticket to go to this event again... but it was still a fun experience, shopping by myself :)

Oh and free gift I got was a MAC nail lacquer in Norturnelle

Tackle box as makeup storage!

Let me introduce you to my new makeup storage. Voila a tackle box used for beauty purpose!

I've been hunting for a perfect organizer to compact my precious makeup collection and finally found this in the fishing aisle.

The drawer is 16.5" x 12.0" x 16.0" which is a good size for my 'desk.' It contains 4 stowaway utility boxes, 1 big storage area on the top and a small top-access storage area on the lid.

Here's how I organized the stowaway boxes...

Haul: Shiseido + Nars 2011

Here's some pictures of the stuff I got this past weekend.

Here's a mini haul from Sasa. I purchased the 'Shiseido Sun Protection Stick Foundation in Beige' at regular price because I did not find it at the warehouse sale. Or if it was there it was soldout before we got there =( However, on a brighter note, Shiseido had a gift with purchase and I got this travel size 'White Lucent' set for free. :)
Got these at Sasa in Market Village
Now, onto the haul from the Shiseido warehouse sale :)

Makeup expiration dates

I got curious about makeup expiration dates after getting a few styes on the same eye for the past few months...

Here are my results after I did some intense (15 minutes) research online:

Brushes: must be washed weekly with a mild detergent
Concealer: 12 to 18 months
Cream & gel cleansers: 1 year
Eyeshadow: up to 3 years
Foundation: a water-based foundation will last up to 12 months, oil-based will last up to 12 to 18 months, cream or compact foundation up to 18 months
Fragrance: 2 to 5 years
Lip gloss: 18 to 24 months
Lip liner: Up to 3 years
Lipstick: Some experts say 1 to 2 years, others say up to 4 years or until it smells bad...
Liquid eye liner: 3 to 6 months
Mascara: 3 to 4 months
Nail Polish: up to 12 months
Pencil eye liner: up to 3 years
Powder: 2 years
Sponges: washed weekly and discard monthly

I guess this is the general guideline I'd be keeping in mind on when products need to be tossed out...
