Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 54 Boy

This was the third Chanel product that I've ever purchased and it is one that I'd definitely consider repurchasing when I'm done the tube (maybe even before that!)
Top: 1 Swipe, Bottom: 3 swipes

Chanel's 54 Boy, on lips no flash
Chanel's 54 Boy, on lips with flash

Boy is a My-Lip-But-Better colour because of this fact, it is very wearable and suitable for work. This is also the reason why, I've worn it almost everyday during the month of September and early October. I still enjoying wearing it late October, but I've started on my deeper fall shades :)

Overall Rating ***** / 5 (1 = worst 5 = best) Boy is just awesome. I don't know what else to say.
Price *****/5 (1 = soooo cheap! 5 = pricey!) At a whooping $39CAD, easily one of the most expensive lippy I currently own.
Packaging Quality *****/5 (1 = worst 5 = best) Very sleek black tube with the Chanel symbol on the lid. It has the lovely gold accent making it look that much more luxe.
Scent? Sweet floral... I love it...
Would you buy this product again? * dreamy eyes* of course... are there any other colours you'd recommend me from this line?!

Rose Shop Mystery Box $25

I learned about Rose Rose Shop from a lovely member in one of my "groups" on Facebook and decided to give the company a try. I was pleasantly surprised, their customer service was excellent. Another plus was that my parcel arrived safely and quickly, within 2 weeks of me placing the order (which is faster than Sephora orders that is just across the border). For only $25, this was the mystery box I received:
tada!! They had all the basis covered, from makeup to skincare to nails ^_^
List of items:
  • BRTC Zinnia Stem Cell Mask
  • Cedia Rose Stem Cell Sensitive Blemsh Balm BB Cream (full size)
  • Cedia mineral powder (full size, I think)
  • Fashion earrings
  • Etude House Collagen Moistfull Essence
  • Etude House Mag Play nails (full size)
  • Etude House Pearly Extract Mask
  • Etude House Wonder Pore Trial Kit
  • Lador Perfect Hair Filler
  • Tony Moly Berryberry Lovely Stick in RDLS02 (full size)
Plus 10 mini samples from brands like: Missha, Skin79, Shara Shara, Too cool for school :)

Samples galore!
Without a doubt, the Tony Moly Berry Berry Lovely Stick was the item I was most looking forward to~ The colour I received was RDLS02, Apple Berry.
As a person with pore issues, the Etude House Wonder Pore trial kit is something I'm quite interested in trying out. Let's find out if it really works!
This set includes:
  • Wonder Pore White Clay Clear 10g (rinse with lukewarm water after 15-20 mins)
  • Wonder Pore Freshner 25ml (like toner, apply with cotton, or I just pat it all over my face)
  • Wonder Pore Corrector 5ml (apply only to areas you want to treat)

Lador Perfect Hair Filler got my attention because 1, I was unfamiliar with the name and 2, what on earth are hair fillers? My first thought was that it'd help me if I had balding issues, but I don't... Anyways, after a quick google search, it turns out to be hair treatment for damaged hair. Perfect :) Just the sample that I was looking for.
After taking and uploading all these pictures I realized that the main piece was not mentioned and only briefly present in the first picture. It was the Cedia BB cream and its mineral powder, perhaps it'd get its own post? ;) Until next time, take care!

Chanel Indulgence

Another mini haul from one makeup obsessed junkie. Picked these up a couple weeks ago when I meet up with a friend for some girl QT and dinner. It just so happened to be the release date of the Chanel Le Jour, La Nuit et Le Weekend at Holts. The counters were busy, but one lady did decide to talk to me and help me out. Although I didn't pick up any of the new release, she gave me some samples to try out. Here's my first Chanel haul~
Purchase: Vitalumiére Aqua foundation in 20 Beige and Rouge Coco Shine in 54 Boy. Freebies: two sample sets of Le Jour, La Nuit and Le Weekend, as well as a deluxe sample of Le Weekend. I haven't tried out the samples yet, but I will once I'm done the samples I'm currently trying out (Guerlain for those who are curious.)

A little info I learned about the new release: I was told by the CSR that Le Jour and La Nuit are suppose to be additional steps to your skincare regime, used after toner and before moisturizer. Le Weekend on the other hand, as its name implies, is suppose to be used during the weekend as both day and night replacement of your serum and moisturizer. CSR said, for best results, you should use it on the day you wear minimal makeup and for better results, use it two consecutive days.
Vitalumière caught out of its box! :) This foundation applies nicely and easily with the best make up tools ever, your fingers! After application it feels like I have nothing on and yet my skin is evened out. Redness is significantly reduced, but blemishes are still obvious.
Lipstick stalked by its box ;)
The lipstick just glides on so smoothly, I see myself finishing this and repurchasing. The colour is definitely a MLBB~! I am totally in love with the formula of this lipstick, I don't care for the hint of sweet floral fragrance for the lipstick.

Overall, I am quite happy with my purchase as well as my experience with Chanel, I am most likely going to check out more products and make a few purchases in the future. My wallet is scared... hehe...
I need a better picture of it, but here I am sporting 54 Boy on my lips.

Lipstick Freebies

I've acquired two lipstick samples this past week and I thought I'd share some pictures of them with you. They are the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Catfight and the Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy in 400 Red Four Hundred (I'm not repeating myself... that the name of the colour!)
I had to redeem 100 Sephora perk points for the UD lipstick (so I guess it's not really free...) but for the Armani, I just had to show up at Holt Renfrew on Bloor to pick up the deluxe Rouge Ecstasy mini.
I love how the Giorgio Armani card has the ingredient listed on the back... but I also like how the Urban Decay has a list of the different colours on their info card...
I haven't had the heart to swatch them yet... unless you really insist ;)

Tony Moly Prestige Crystal Lipstick Pink Sorbet

I purchased two lippies from the Tony Moly store in Pmall, one of which was the Prestige Crystal Lipstick in 02 Pink Sorbet. It is a lovely girly pink colour that I found surprisingly wearable. The formula is not drying, but not overly moisturizing. This lipstick applies smoothly and feels lightweight but is pigmented. The SPF on it made it perfect for summer, unfortunately I didn't discover this lovely product until the end of summer. T^T
My first thought when I saw the packaging was that it reminded me of the shu uemura lipsticks. I find these clear tube adorable, you can see the exact amount of product you have and the colour it is if you have multiple colours of these. I like that when you close the cap it give you that satisfying click to let you know it's closed properly. My only gripe with its packaging is its size, it's a tad too chunky for my preference.
The colour swatches nicely on the back of my hand, here I have the swatch in two different light.

And also, pink sorbet on my lips~ :)

Overall Rating **** / 5 (1 = worst 5 = best) It's a great product for the price, I'd definitely want to check out the other colours in this line. I love that it did not contain beeswax and had the ingredients listed in English on the box.

Ipsy September 2013

What's in my Ipsy Classic Beauty bag:
  • Cailyn Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple
  • Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Volumizing Mascara
  • NYX Single Eyeshadow in ES32 Purple
  • Starlooks Kohl Eye Pencil in Obsidian - I love how smoothly this eyeliner applies, I just wish it didn't smudge on my oily lids! It's a very lovely matte black eyeliner!
  • J.Cat Beauty Fantabulous Lipstick in FL107 Honeycrisp
  • and a sample card of em cosmetics out to lunch
I'm thinking about cancelling my Ipsy bag... This month's bag was ok, if only it didn't contain two lip products with beeswax~ Because of these beauty subs, I keep accumulating lip products with beeswax I'd never use~~ Anyone interested in swapping them? hehe~ Also, not that fond of this months' bag, kinda have the fake LV feel to it~

SDM Haul: 80,000 points redemption

I broke my no-buy pledge this month because of the awesome point redemption promo at Shoppers Drug Mart this weekend... for 40,000 points you can redeem up to $90 worth of stuff or, the next tier which is 80,000 points for $200... I had been saving my points for this so I had to go redeem them! And this was what I came home with (along with a few samples I got from Sephora...) Moose and I had a makeover, and we basically bought every product Davis (the Bourjois MUA) put on us... He was amazing :) Here's the haul for a little over $29 CAD ^_^
SDM rep also gave us a few samples, which was super sweet of her!
I picked up two Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick in 04 Peach on the Beach and 03 Orange Punch. 4 colours were launched but I only saw 3 of them at SDM.
Davis applied this on my face and I was in love~~ Previously, I've tried the Bourjois Healthy Mix serum gel foundation and disliked how it looked on my skin, so imagine my surprise when this looked so awesome on me this time around. The Bourjois 10hr Sleep Effect foundation is a light /liquidy foundation that provides a medium coverage that is buildable. It looked and felt so lovely and light. I was shocked. I knew that I have been sleep deprived last week so the beautiful result made me have to own it, instantly.
This was applied on my crease and looked quite lovely, but as my husband pointed out, I looked like I was done up... perhaps a tad too much? It's not usually something I'd do, so I'm not sure if I will be keeping this. I also have way too many brown glittery eyeshadows...
This Bourjois Duochrome eye pencil in 59 violet rose added a lovely accent when applied just above my black eyeliner...
I can't justify why I had purchased both of these mascaras... I was curious... I loved the effect the Volumizer mascara had on Moose... The Volume Clubbing mascara is suppose to be sweat proof, so... yeah... that's why they were in my checkout bag... *shifty eyes* Let's test these babies out!!
The last product that I purchased, was one that I've lusted over for a while now... It is the Guerlain Météorites compact in 03 Teinte Doré. I'm still unsure about the shade that I got, but I have wanted to get this product for a long while now and finally I got my hands on them! buhahahha!! It blended easily and it took out some shine that my foundation did not.
A bunch of freebies we got that day
After spending almost 3 hours at SDM, we decided to check out Sephora as well and that's when we spotted this Sephora CSR with flawless skin... We asked her what her secret to beautiful skin was and she pointed us to AmorePacific... We have never heard of this Korean brand before and was quite intrigued by their products. She was so kind and made us some samples to try out... Pricey brand though, will have to see if I love the results enough to buy it! Have any of you heard about this brand? Is it worth the hefty price tag?! Please let me know! :)

My top 12 products of 2012

Just thought I'd share my top 12 products of the past year. These are not listed in the order of favourites, but more in the order in which I use them throughout the day. With my shopping addiction, I was surprised that I consistently liked a few products, and today I will reveal which ones they are :D
11 of the 12 products, I thought that the sheet masks would take up too much space
The first fave product is actually one that I use first thing in the morning, that is my Hello Kitty Cleansing paste. Although I am not particularly fond of the scent I can overlook it because it makes my face feels so clean and soft afterwards. I like using this so much I already have a back up of it... I actually have a mini review of this here if you are interested in reading more about it.

One of my rare finds of 2012 was the H2O Face Oasis shine-neutralizing gel. I stumbled on this because I had purchased the wrong moisturizer for my friend, so instead I decided to keep it for myself. Boy am I glad for this mistake. This oil-free gel is an amazing moisturizer that not only keeps my face matte, but hydrated all day long.

Vaseline lip therapy lip balm Cocao butter - 2012 was a year that I dedicated to finding awesome lip treatments for my super dry lips. On my hunt, I found this cute little tub that was pretty good at keeping them happy. This product is good at retaining moisture in the lips but does not really add hydration to it and it worked a lot better after my lips are healed. It is great at 'sealing' the lips so that I may occasionally wear a lip products that contain beeswax.

Kose Suncut Essence in UV Protect Milk SPF50 PA+++ Waterproof is a very lovely dupe of the Shiseido Sunscreen that I adore for half the price. This product was especially awesome during the summer time, a sunscreen with decent SPF and none of the oily feeling.

YSL anti-cernes multi-action concealer in Nude Beige - Love this creamy concealer, can't believe I spent so much money on something so little... but it is great at concealing dark circles, and it can last at least 4 hours on if I don't set it with a powder and almost twice that when I do. It has very minimal creasing and it has been my most successful concealer so far.

TheBalm Balm Shelter Tinted moisturizer - At the beginning of 2012, my skin was not at it's happiest, lots of breakout, redness and scarring so this was not enough coverage for me. However, with continuous use, my face slowly cleared up and by mid to end of 2012 my face required very minimal coverage. Between the H2O moisturizer and this TM, my skin's been feeling happy and not overloaded. I've reviewed this product here.

Shiseido eyeshadow quad in Desert Winds - I was surprised by this, but I reached for this palette more often than not. The colour in this palette is very wearable on a daily basis, the shadow last all day even without a primer. I was suprised at its pigmentation, lasting ability and its lovely texture. This palette wowed me and I dread the day I finish any of the shadows on this perfect palette!

d.j.v. Beautenizer mascara - I enjoyed this mascara more than any other fiberwig I've tried so far. When I'm finished the stash of mascara I've hoarded over the last while I will definitely consider repurchasing this. I love the fact that it does not clump when I apply it, nor does it smudge on me throughout the day although I wish that it was a darker black, since my Asian lashes are barely visible regularly.

Too Faced Lip Crème in Naughty Nude - I'm usually a coral kind of girl, but since I found this lipstick, I've really start digging nude lips. It might also be because I've been wearing more smokey looks and this lipstick just goes so well with them without making me look like a zombie~ Swatches and my little obsessive post can be found here, just in case you want to read more ;) I actually really enjoy the rest of my Lip Crèmes which includes; Spice Spice Baby, Nude Beach, I Want Candy and Coral Fire. :)

This is the only tool in my list of products, the Clarisonic Mia. I had started using it late 2011, but results didn't show until early-mid 2012. This tool is golden! I use it in combination with several different cleanser and it does the job of removing guck and makeup off my face very well. You can see the foundation or cheek colour on the brush (which looks nasty) but makes me glad to have proof of how much was on my face. After using it my skin is clean and ready for moisturizers and face masks... which leads to my next fave...

My Beauty Diary masks - I like their entire range of masks. My skin feels pampered, moisturized and satisfied every time. I'm not sure about any lasting effect, but my skin feels and look awesome the next morning. These masks also have a very lovely scent to them. My only gripe with this? I feel like so much product is wasted as there is always a lot left in the package!

Laura Mercier Lip Silk - When my lips were super dry and everything irritated it, this was my savior. My lips are much better now, but I still use this at night when my lips needs a little pampering. Although expensive, this tube has lasted me quite a while. So for extremely dry lips (that is allergic to beeswax) do consider this awesome lip balm for supple and happy lips. :)

Is text enough or do people prefer pictures? :) Let me know if it matters :D

Week 1: Lippies

I looked at my makeup collection one day and realized that a large majority of my collection remained unloved, so, as a reminder to myself I will post on a weekly basis, 5 different products from one category that I use between Monday to Friday and see how long I can keep this up.

For the first week, I chose to start off with lipsticks. Here are the products that I used:
Left to right with flash: Tarte's Hope and Laura Mercier's Baby Doll, YSL Sweet Fig, Dior Beige Casual, Dior Red Carpet, Lancome Rose Pitimini
no flash
Monday - Tarte LipSurgence Natural Matte Lip Tint in Hope and Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Baby Doll
  • It's always a merp day Monday, so I decide to put a little bit more effort on my lips and used a lip tint and gloss combo. I find Tarte's Matte lip tint too drying so I added the Laura Mercier gloss on top to give it a bit more shine. I'm not a big fan of the minty scent of the lip tint but it eventually goes away~
Tuesday - YSL Volupté Sheer Candy #7 Sweet Fig
  • Love the smell of this lipstick as well as the neutral colour. I would never have guessed that the colour of this lipstick would be so sheer.
Wednesday - Dior Addict Lipstick #222 Beige Casual
  • I decided to wear darker eye makeup, so this nude colour was perfect for the eyes :)
Thursday - Dior Addict Lipstick #963 Red Carpet
  • Love this bold blue-red, too bad the bright colour does not last long, as I had to reapply frequently to get the vivid colour. I do want to mention I drank lots of liquid this week because of a stubborn cold that just won't go away. I do want to mention that this lipstick does stain so even though it fades quickly, there is always a hint of the violet red on your lips.
Friday - Lancome Rouge in Love #353M Rose Pitimini
  • This colour lasted me a good 4 hours before reapplication is needed. The formula is a bit drying but it's nothing a lip balm base can't fix. I still love the rockets popsicle smell of this lippy.
yay! 6 different products used this week~ I guess this is more like a rotation of the week post. :) Let hope I can keep this up. Next week... Eyeshadows!

So, quick question, do you want to see swatches of these products on the lip? If so, please let me know :)

rant: Don't you just hate...

limited edition products?

I don't like reading up on new products only to find out at the end that they are limited edition... The last time I got suckered into buying something limited edition, I still have not used it yet which are the lipsticks and eyeshadow trio from the Paul and Joe 2012 Spring Creation collection (post here) sigh~! And this past weekend because of the Dior's Cherie Bow Spring 2013 collection and some SDM bonuses I  gave in and bought these...
Dior Addict 437 Charmant (LE) and DiorSkin Shimmer powder 001 Rose Diamond (permanent collection, though there were rumors last year that it might be discontinued... clearly, some marketing tactic...)
haul with the freebies
I'm determined not to repeat the mistake I made last year and started using the lipstick this weekend :) Here's some swatches~
left is without lipstick, right is with 437 Charmant
This is a sheer coral, but for some reason looks a lot more girly pink in picture. This lipstick is moisturizing and I like the fact that it gives my lips just a hint more colour.
pretending to be cute~ at this angle my eyes look kinda big...
The purchase with tax was $85.88. I received a 10$ gift card for Tim Hortons and 10$ from Shoppers which deducted the total to $65.88 putting me $2.17 over my MU budget this month :( boooo... I start February with a $97.83 budget~

On a brighter note, I got me some awesome girlfriend. She cheered me up with this love package XD
I really enjoy Bath and Body Works body lotion in Berry Vanilla, however, it is now discontinued, so I was literally quite surprised that she found it for me as well as the Katy Perry Sweetie Pie lashes which I also had rotten luck looking for... I am very lucky to have a great friend in Moose :)
and... to further distract my reader (you) from the fact that I overspent this month... here's a picture of Aries that I took over the weekend :)
Thanks for reading and have an meowwww day :)
