Lipstick / Lipbalm Haul!

Last week I read on a blog about EOS lipbalms on sale at Rexall, so Roni and I decided to go check it out... unfortunately, the sales girl working there told us that they have discontinued selling them (I guess that's why the sale...) we were bummed out until we found out that they had a buy 1 get 1 free lip products promotion going on, and there began our search for lipsticks and lipbalms! Here's my mini haul~

A little bit of interesting information about this brand that I want to mention is that it is Canadian, it's products are all made in Canada, and it is founded by 3 Canadian women :) oh and their makeup are cruelty free :) This is my first exposure to this brand since I have only recently started shopping at Rexall but I can see myself purchasing more Vasanti products :)

First Hautelook order: Urban Decay + swatches

It finally arrived!!

I was so excited to get my Urban Decay shadows from Hautelook!! There is just something so exciting about unboxing a package (kind of like Christmas presents, but it can happen all year around.) It's funny how even though I knew what I ordered, I was still surprised when I saw them. Soooo pretty and for less than $8 each.... Anyways... Here's my haul!

I decided to try UD's Cream eyeshadow and also a few of the singles eyeshadows:

EOTD - Simple eyes with Blue and Pink :)

I created this look because 1) I was bored and 2) I wanted to try out my MAC eye shadow in Haunting. When I first got this colour (free from the warehouse sale earlier this month), I wasn't sure what to do with it.. The colour looks so faded that I thought it wouldn't show on my yellow skin, so I decided to experiement a little... and it turned out okay when used with a base or in my case two bases since I decided to use both MAC's pot paint in painterly + NYX's Jumbo Eye Pencil in cottage cheese... the color actually stays pretty true to pan, even though the pictures were not able to capture that, haunting is a faded/washed blue in daylight, but depending on the setting/lighting it can look purple or aqua blue...

For this look I actually used the following color: Stylish(pink), The New Black and Drape(white) from my Lancome palette + MAC's Haunting. I was pleasantly surprised to see how blue + pink created the purple, it reminded me of grade school :)

Curls!~~

During a beautiful Saturday downtown, we stumbled upon a food festival and... I got my hair done... for FREE! :) The stylist decided to give me some curls! :) What do you think?

I wish I took down the name of the hairspray used... These curls lasted me all night and even after I tied it up or pinned them down... The curls stayed put until I washed it off that night :| I think it might be the Matrix Design Pulse hairspray.. but I'm not sure...

Water Marble Nail Art

Last night we tried this extremely cool marble nail art! Of the 8 fingers I did... Only 2 (and half) was successful! Nonetheless, it is very pretty!!

At first, it was difficult and I made some 'cow' pattern because I keep putting drops of nail polish everywhere, but eventually I got the 'bulls-eye' perfected... it was fun :)

Roni was a natural at this... 

I... was not as successful...

...but we learn through our failures :)

Here's some tips for those who wants to try this out...

- put tape around your nails!! it makes a big mess if you don't (I learned it the hard way)

- test out each nail polish to see if it will spread in water

- leave the bottles open so that you can quickly and easily get each drop

- MUST apply a base colour (we found that the color is less vibrant and in some cases there are gaps where the nail polish did not spread to)
- top coat is an essential last step (preferably a quick dry!)

- use a toothpick to remove excess nail polish before you take your finger out of the water

- lastly... patience!
